Hop on Popcorn

This fat-free technique for popping corn is more than just hot air.

Flavored Butters for Popcorn

Q: Is there a way to enjoy popcorn without heavy doses of oil or butter?

A: You can actually cook popcorn on the stovetop without any oil. Just add 1 tablespoon of water to the pot with the kernels.

Popcorn is a naturally lowfat food, and we found that water works just as well as oil to cook the kernels. And since drizzled melted butter can easily ratchet up the fat content of this snack, for maximum flavor with minimal fat we found that a modest amount of olive oil (its flavor further heightened with black pepper and Parmesan) tossed with the popcorn before serving works perfectly.
