Sugar and spice and everything nice—and butter.
That’s what cinnamon buns are made of.
Unfortunately, that means these ooey-gooey rolls of goodness have always been off-limits to the calorie-conscious. Blogger Tracey Wilhelmson of Tracey’s Culinary Adventures knows this all too well. “Comfort foods…are definitely my favorite,” she writes. “But I’m also trying to eat healthier lately so I’ve cut many of them out because, let’s face it, they’re usually loaded with butter.”
That’s why she was so excited to try our lightened-up version of Cinnamon Buns from our newest cookbook, Comfort Food Makeovers. Maple syrup, skim milk, and reduced fat cream cheese are the stars of these sweet, (almost) guilt-free treats. Best of all, as Tracey puts it, “they were just as tender and flavorful as I’d hoped they’d be. From the sweet brown sugar-cinnamon filling to the thick, rich icing, my craving was completely satisfied.”
