Chocolate Sour Cream Bundt Cake

Summer birthdays are the best (full disclosure: my own birthday is rapidly approaching). Summer is the time for pool parties, vacations, and no rules. Even if that idea technically became moot after graduation from a lifestyle ruled by the academic calendar, the spirit still stands. Many of our Facebook fans were celebrating birthdays this week, and, fittingly, they threw the rules aside and steered clear of the typical frosting-laden cake. The celebratory edibles were all desserts (no one seems ready to stick a candle in a birthday steak — some conventions are best followed) but from birthday cobbler to birthday pot de crème, and even birthday Bundt, they all have a loving, if unfamiliar, ring. So, happy birthday to Katie’s mom, to Jennifer’s daughter, and as for the Bundt cake, that I’ll claim for myself — thanks for thinking of me, Rob.
