Power to the people, say our Facebook fans this week. We are making rather than buying those foods so often picked up in the prepared foods aisle of the supermarket. Since storebought can often be overpriced and underwhelming, we are looking instead out the kitchen window for the flavors awaiting in the garden and in the pantry for the staples that can be easily transformed. Perhaps they are being inspired by our DIY series. In any case, from pesto to granola, these readers are passing up plastic containers and brown paper bags to make it at home. Plus, home gets even sweeter with the house cocktail that is served a better way: in a cake.
Home is where the stomach is, too, with these gorgeous photographs taken by our fans. Don’t let someone else do it for you. We can do it! And it will taste good.
If you are interested in being featured as one of our Facebook Fan Photos of the week, “like” our America’s Test Kitchen, Cook’s Illustrated, and Cook’s Country Facebook pages and upload a photo directly onto our wall.
