In the movie No Reservations, my favorite scene has to be when Catherine Zeta-Jones walks into the dining hall with a raw steak on the tip of her knife, asking the picky customer if it is “rare enough”.

It has to be in Stranger Than Fiction, when the repressed IRS agent, played by Will Ferrell, brings a bunch of “flours” to the free-spirited and socially-active baker, played by Maggie Gyllenhall. The movie is heart-breakingly beautiful, and if I had a man who brought me a courting gift like that… *sigh*

I like the parts in Goodfellas that revolve around food. Especially the part where Henry is trying to make his sauce (gravy) while selling guns and watching a helicopter follow him all day. And the part where the three mobsters kill a man and they go to the one’s house and his Mom makes them food. They are covered in blood and tell her they hit a deer. Love that movie!

I’lm particularly fond of the pan galactic gargle blaster scene in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy… It’s like having your brain smashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped around a large gold brick!

I just love the scene where Brad Pitt as Death is eating peanut butter for the first time in Meet Joe Black. It’s just perfect. He takes such immense pleasure in discovering and savoring it.
For anyone who has made pie dough that seemed impossible to roll out, bread that failed to rise, or a birthday cake that couldn't be served, this book will be a lifesaver as well as a lifelong and trusty baking companion. And with 22 chapters, this book is packed with recipes that will keep you busy (and your family and friends happy) for years to come.
