Meet Baxter. He’s a 7-year-old Border Terrier and belongs to Emily Logan, America’s Test Kitchen‘s retail sales and marketing manager.
Border Terriers are somewhat of a rare breed in the US, so while Emily and her husband searched for breeders, they found one in Pictou County, Nova Scotia — right near where her husband is from. Thus, in a stroke of (cute) coincidence, both Emily’s husband and dog are proud Nova Scotians.
In true dog fashion, Baxter likes stuffed chipmunk toys and tennis balls. He loves long walks on the beach (true story) and is a faithful and patient companion to 4-year-old Sammy, Emily’s son. And he fully lives up to a Border Terrier reputation — they’re known to be very affable dogs who are usually in good moods, have long memories, and really love to snuggle up under blankets and rest their heads on pillows. When Baxter comes into the office, he will often jump up on the laps of co-workers.
Baxter’s best trick is killing any rodent that may get into the basement; last winter he killed several mice (Border Terriers were bred to go to ground and hunt vermin). Baxter had a brief career in earth dog trials that was cut short by his health problems (Baxter was very sick with a rare liver condition; he had emergency surgery and his chances were not great), but he recovered wonderfully and is in fabulous health now.
Overall, Baxter is an extremely friendly dog who is slightly protective of his family. He makes us smile every day and greets all of us with a tail wag and his sweet little smile whenever we see him.
And, without further ado:

Emily’s entire family is dressing up like superheroes, and Baxter is doing his part, saving the world as Wonder Woman.
In case you didn’t know, the America’s Test Kitchen offices (not the kitchen) are dog friendly. Every once in a while, we’ll share a furry moment from our resident four-legged friends. Stay tuned for the cute.
