Silly Question of the Day: Food Doppelgangers

Channel your inner foodstuff.

sqotd-youasfood

Today’s question is a little more personal, and a lot more silly.

We asked around America’s Test Kitchen to navel gaze (or perhaps more fittingly, navel-orange gaze) about who they might choose as their food doppelganger.

I would be Pop Rocks, because they are colorful and fun!

I’d be an onion! Nope, it’s not the desire to be oddly odoriferous. The onion is probably one of the most talented kitchen commodities. Peel away the skin, and you’ll find as many layers as there are uses for the onion. When I think about cooking, the smell that immediately comes to mind is that of onions sautéing in butter. I can think of worse things in life than bathing in butter.

I would be bubble tea — usually sweet, a little weird at first if you’re not used to it, but ultimately fun and surprising every time.

And now for the Silly Question of the Day…
If you were a food, what would you be… and why?

I’d be apple seeds — harnessing the ability to produce an amazing tree and fruit, yet poisonous!

Kosher dill pickles. A little salty, a little sour and a little crunchy — but worth it!

I would be cabbage rolls. Sweet, savory, tender, meaty and comforting, the humble cabbage roll is highly underrated. When made right they’re out of this world yummy!

A grilled cheese sandwich, because who doesn’t love a grilled cheese sandwich?!
