I loved this cake, it was very easy to make and had a great citrus flavor! I baked my cake in a tube pan, however when the cake was done it was very heavy and did not rise as high as your photo. I did not substitute or make any changes to the recipe to include the fresh bottle of 7UP. How high should this cake have risen? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I plan on making this a favorite for friends, family and special events.

Both my poundcake recipe and one published recently on this site call for starting the cake in a cold oven. So why does this recipe tell me to preheat the oven. Will something bad happen if I don’t preheat for this recipe?
