Late spring is my favorite time of year in the woods (except for hunting season of course).

Charlie and Caroline agreed to take a 3-hour hike with their old man. The turtle won the race.

Emily's spaniel, Button, had the best day of her life out and about in the woods. Look up "happy" in the dictionary, and you'll find this photo!

Thank you for sharing a slice of your life in the country. The woods are beautiful.
I’m up early, getting ready for another day at the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, where the only signs of nature will be the plants taking over my office and, If I am lucky, a glimpse of the hawk that hunts pigeons and rats from the vantage point of a nearby hotel window ledge. I chanced upon your photo galleries, and I feel so much better about the day. They are beautiful!
Love your px. Chris. I’m N.H. born and raised. I have skiied Vermont in my earlier days, loved it. Thanks for your site! Jeri
You should expand your ‘Letters from Vermont’ to a blog site such as WordPress.com. I think folks would enjoy seeing and reading such a blog. I’m sure it wouldn’t hurt your business either

Hi Joseph, you are indeed reading this on a site built on a WordPress platform! You can read all of Christopher Kimball’s posts in one place: http://www.americastestkitchenfeed.com/blogs/notes-from-cpk
I am working in the Middle East, looking out at the Red Sea and lots of sand, looking at these beautiful pictures. Thanks for the reminder of what home looks like in the Spring and early summer.
Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing. Being from “out West”, love seeing your eastern scenery.
Phote #1 – In Idaho that is called Orange Hawkweed, a very aggresive plant, is on the noxious weed list in Adams County where we live.
Keep the pictures coming.
I grew up in MA and miss it so much. Thanks for bringing me back for just a bit.
Regarding your picture of wild blackberries, here in Georgia these treasures ripen much earlier that they do in Vermont. A common sight is a family on the side of the highway with their buckets, picking blackberries. We’re fortunate to have these bushes growing in our pastures and on the fencelines. There is no flavor to compare to homemade jelly and cobblers made from homegrown, handpicked wild blackberries.
LOVE the pic of Button! I’m a Queens County native but live in Tivoli, NY now (and still work in NYC). I have the best of both worlds. Hustle and bustle of NYC during the day and the quiet of the country at night. Nothing but crickets, my horses and my dogs (and a rather large pack of coyotes in the background).
THANK YOU for all of your hard work and dedication. Love the recipies.
Is it possible to do some gluten free recipies? My hubby is now gluten free and I’ve switched my diet to make it easier on him. I find a lot on the internet but would love the “experts” insight.
Thank you again.

Thanks so much for the photos. They allow me to escape for a few moments from this gray cubicle. They also make me long to be away from constant 100 degree days here in Oklahoma. Love Americas Test Kitchen too!!
Your photos and comments are delightful. I only got to visit Vermont and Boston once and I was blessed to have a dear friend from my past take me around and see the sights. Thank you for these wonderful pictures. I enjoy Cooks Illustrated too!
What a paradise! Someday I hope to have the oportunity to return to New England and visit your place.
The pictures are great… I have always enjoyed your letters and have been reading them for some time..even forwarded some to my kids..They bring back memories of my youth and give me an incite to things happening up in that part of the country..We are burning up here in KS. and it is refreshing to see all the green…I am a country person and live on a small spread here in the heart of the country…Keep up the good work…
Your photos are breathtaking. Thanks for sharing. Vt is about as different as could be given what we see in the desert SW. I love your letters from VT!
Beautiful photos…everything looks so green and cool! It is the total opposite of where I live in Indiana- It has been so dry and hot. In fact, today we are expecting a high of 102 degrees!
Oh to be in Vermont!!!
Having lived on a 15 acre farm back in the 70′s, your comments and pictures of your walks in the woods brought back many wonderful memories. We had a huge garden, plus 5 beautiful maple trees and made many bottles of syrup and canned and froze veggies from the garden. Today we live in Calistoga, CA., but still have a garden which we enjoy all summer. I do enjoy Cook’s Illustrated. Patsy
Lived on a farm in New Hampshire back in the 70′s. Your walks in the woods brought back many wonderful memories.
We now live in Calistoga, Ca. in the Napa Valley. Love your pictures and especially Cook’s Illustrated!
Pictures are absolutely awesome. Vermont is a beautiful state, we have family in the Burlington and Fairfax areas.
What beautiful pictures!!! I live in New Mexico, the HIGH desert, [4000 ft], but Southern N.M.] All the luscious green and TREES set my heart a thumping. Makes me homesick for my former home in Appalachia. Keep the wonderful letters and recipes coming.
I can smell the wonderful leaves, grass and mountain air. Thanks for the tour for my senses. Simply lovely
hey chris , love all your shows and articles. The pictures you post for us are great. I live in upper litchfield county connecticut where we are blessed with a country setting as your are. Again love your pics and almost time for canning the garden bounty, thanks again
Christopher:
We just returned from a trip from our homestead in GA to upstate NY to pick up some new goats for our little dairy herd on our farm. I was enjoying sweet goat milk for breakfast, and then viewed your “walk through Vermont” blog entry. The view reminded me of the lovely spot we stayed in NY at Halcyon Farm. Thank you for your pictures. It has helped me continue to savor the memories of my recently completed journey to the North.
Love the photos Mr. Kimball! Thank you for sharing your hike. Vermont is beautiful.
You truly do live in Paradise(at least in 3 seasons of the year). I don’t like to be envious of anything, but these photos do make me wish I were there. Thank you so much for sharing your world.
II am from Vermont too. Like the pictures. I also like a lot of the different things you cook
