Name: Norpro GRIP-EZ Meat Pounder
Price: $17.50, available at Amazon
It looks like: An oversized ink stamper.
How we tested it: We flattened both chicken and pork cutlets and made note of leverage, control, and performance.
How it actually works: The GRIP-EZ flattened cutlets quickly and easily with hardly any damage to the meat.
Good to know: The shape and heft of this vertical-style model provided the right combination of control and force to produce nearly flawless cutlets. Also, it’s worth noting that it took an average of 12 strokes of the pounder to fully flatten each cutlet.
My favorite part: The low price; you get a lot of bang for your buck. It’s got a good weight to it, too, as it clocks in at 1.75 lbs.
Best for: Any recipes that call for thin cutlets.
Overall: This highly recommended gadget pounded the rest of the competition.
