Homemade pizza is a great way to feed (and please) a crowd. But if you cut the pie with a regular knife, you’re guaranteed to pull cheese in every direction. A pizza wheel is essential, and we wanted one large and sharp enough to glide through thick and thin crusts without dislodging toppings. After testing 6 popular models, we found our winner in the OXO Good Grips Pizza Wheel. We also like the version with the plastic wheel for non-stick pans.
Gadget name: OXO Good Grips 4” Pizza Wheel.
It looks like: A particularly ergonomic pizza wheel, with a thick, non-slip handle.
How it’s supposed to work: The cutter claimed to slice pizza into pieces easily and cleanly.
How we tested it: We sliced and sectioned thin-crust and thick-crust pizzas alike, and noted how comfortable the pizza cutter was to use, while also examining the appearance of the final pizza slices.
How it actually works: As it’s supposed to; the blade cut through crusts cleanly.
Drawbacks: To push through chewier crusts, we had to roll back and forth a few times.
Good to know: The well-designed wheel was easy to clean.
My favorite part: A thumb guard and the soft grip helped protect hands.
Best for: Homemade pizzas (and store-bought ones, we suppose).
Overall: This is a trusty pizza cutter that gets the job done and cleans up easily.
