Which kitchen gizmos actually work and are worth buying

Retractable “Le Towelé” Kitchen Towel

Have a towel always close at hand—in theory, anyway.

Now here’s a product that could have been great: the Argee “Le Towelé”. It clips to your belt or apron with a retractable clip that holds a kitchen towel. The idea is that the towel is always at your side, ready to use.

Problem is, even though the microfiber towel it comes with is not at all heavy, the retracting clip is too wimpy to retract. You pull it out, and… it slumps down to your ankles. Too bad—it just doesn’t work.

Do you have any tricks for keeping a kitchen towel handy?

I grew up watching Jacques Pepin’s cooking on TV, and Jacques always loops the corner of his side towel through the belt of his apron. If it’s good enough for Jacques, it’s good enough for me!
