The best way to store leftover frozen vegetables is to cut a thin strip off the top of the bag to open it. Then, once you’ve taken what you need from the bag, twist it shut and tie the cut strip at the base of the twist to secure it.
Place two portions of meat or fish on either side of a large zipper-lock bag so that they aren’t touching. Flatten the bag and force the air out, then fold it over in the center and freeze it. The bag divides the two portions so that they freeze separately.
It’s frustrating when food storage containers are stuck in the freezer, held hostage by contents you won’t use up for months. Here’s what we suggest: Pass the container under hot running water just long enough to release what’s inside in a frozen block. Then drop the frozen block into a zipper-lock freezer bag, seal the bag, and put the food back in the freezer.
