The recipe for Peach Puzzle has all the pizzazz of a magic trick: a beautiful presentation and all-around good taste. For this baked peach dish, we place a custard cup upside down in the center of a pie plate, then arrange peeled peaches around the cup and drizzle them with a mixture of brown sugar, butter, and vanilla. We then dome buttery biscuit dough over everything before putting the whole thing in the oven. Once cooled, we flip the pie plate over to reveal tender peaches nestled into the flaky biscuit—and a butterscotch-like sauce in the ramekin.
ASSEMBLING A PEACH PUZZLE
1. Place a custard cup or ramekin upside down in the center of a 9-inch pie plate. Arrange the peeled peaches around the cup.
2. Fit the dough snugly around the peaches without attaching the dough to the pie plate. Bake as directed.
3. Once cooled, quickly and carefully invert the puzzle onto a rimmed serving plate.
