While most people would probably love to wake up to a freshly baked Danish, not everyone wants to wake up and make a complicated puff pastry dough from scratch. Which is why we’re so fond of this recipe: It uses a pre-made pastry dough onto which you just spoon a quick cream-cheese spread. This way you can have all the joy of a fresh-baked, crispy, melt-in-your mouth pastry with minimal fuss.
MAKING CHEESE DANISH
1. Use the tip of a paring knife to score 1/2-inch border around the edge of each pastry.
2. Staying within the border, prick the pastry with a fork every 1 inch.
3. Using the back of a spoon, spread the filling into an even layer in the center of each pastry, leaving the border uncovered.
